Overall Responsibilities 

  • Respond to requests for information from current undergraduate students, faculty, staff, campus partners and community partners.
  • Provide general advice to newly admitted CALS freshmen; work with PackTrac program participants; serve as CALS liaison for Exploratory Studies, Athletics, and general transfer students.
  • Share CALS student success information at various visitation events (WISE, Park Scholars, Experience); partner with the recruiting team as needed to appropriate program information and encouragement
  • Facilitate advisor training and conversations to DUPs; monitor CODA flow and reach out as needed; partner with AP team to provide fall faculty/advisor meeting; serve as an information and policy resource to all DUP and CALS advisors.
  • Plan College portion of orientation for new students and families each semester. Present at the college welcome; coordinate departmental advising and information sessions.
  • Review schedule revisions and online withdrawal requests (medical and psychological); consult with Counseling Center as needed for retro-active withdrawals; meet with students to provide documentation guidance.
  • Supervise CALS Advising Team.
  • Coordinate CALS Ambassador Program.
  • Coordinate teaching efforts for ALS 103 and ALS 303 courses.
  • Partner with AP colleagues on various programs, events, workshops, and services. Serve on college and university level committees.

 

Ambassador training (new ambassadors 1:15-1:40pm each Tuesday; all ambassadors 1:45-2:45pm each Tuesday)
CALS LIFT student to student (mentor training; fall and spring with ALS 103; hope to add ALS 303; faculty/staff involvement and expectations defined)
Advising Power Hour – attend/promote/encourage attendance each month
DUP meetings (monthly)
DUP roundtables (monthly working groups)
Schedule revisions and withdrawals (daily as students submit)

Hold college welcome for new student orientation (new Spring freshmen and transfers)
Coordinate Winter Welcome Events (college and departmental)
Plan spring kickoff meeting for new ambassador team
